Lucy’s Kitchen Closing It’s Doors, but Opening A New Chapter in Catering

Lucy’s Kitchen Closing It’s Doors, but Opening A  New Chapter in Catering

Another chapter in the story of Lucy Balzano Hergan’s business is being closed, and a new one written.  After 16 years in downtown Bloomsburg, Lucy will close her doors at 208 East Street for the last time on May 30th.  The new focus of her business will be solely on catering and the office of operations will be at the beautiful Rolling Pines Golf and Banquet Facility in Berwick.

With Lucy’s family growing and Andy’s recent retirement after more than 35 years in education, the Hergans are ready to focus on family.  Lucy’s father, the now famous Mr. B, made no secret about the value of family and as her three children have grown and are starting their own, Lucy and Andy have more of a desire to travel and spend time together.  Lucy’s semi-retirement is on the horizon, and downsizing her business to focus on catering allows them the freedom to travel and enjoy family.

Lucy’s Catering at Rolling Pines will continue with the same banquet chef, catering coordinator, and management team.  Off-Site Catering will also continue to be available as will advanced order for everything from pasta, lasagna, chicken and meatballs, to custom cakes to our famous ricotta cookies.  Future plans include a new office and website to be launched in early summer.  We are also looking for storefront venues to host counter space for our baked goods and pre-portioned jars of sauce.

Public events continue to happen at Rolling Pines including Live Music, Art and Wine, Christmas and Holiday Bakery orders, Teas, and new events too!  Please join our Facebook page for event invitations and updates.  As for Lucy’s spot on the corner, we plan to host some customer appreciation nights on Thursday and Friday nights, May 28 and 29.  There will be complimentary items, great specials, and of course, our BYOB for one last toast to Lucy.

The future of 208 East Street will be in the experienced hands of Mike Smith, a local chef who will lease the site starting in July.  Smitty’s Steaks will feature sandwiches, soups, salads, and much more!  He will be open for lunch, dinner, and late night.  Lucy and Andy are thrilled about Mike coming to breathe a new life into a beloved spot.

Please make reservations for Customer Appreciation Nights at 570-784-6206 or via email to toniann@lucyskitchenandcatering.com.

It’s been an amazing ride, and we are looking forward to catering your next event!  Thank you for the business!
